Raw fish is processed within 24 hours to effectively retain the freshness.
Rotating disc steam drier is used to cook, press and dry up the raw fish. The steam pressure needed here is generated by the biomass steam boiler.
It is important to “air-cool” the fishmeal just after the drying process in order to avoid over-heating the fishmeal. Such overheating will burn and destroy the protein in the fishmeal and will eventually affect the digestibility of the fishmeal.
Coarse fishmeal will be transformed into a fine powder form at this stage. Any harsh particles such as shells and stones will be screened and filtered out.
Fishmeal is neatly packed and arranged in the store house and ready for distribution. FIFO is also applied in the storage system.
The laboratory in QL Fishmeal Sdn. Bhd. is fully equipped to conduct wet chemistry analysis and NIR scanning on the fishmeal for the following parameters :
* Protein content(%)
* Moisture content(%)
* Total Volatile Nitrogen Based TVBN (mg/100g).
Fishmeal is sampled at the various stages of the processing to ensure that it conforms to the required specifications .
